Eyeballing a new bow, and the 0% financing deal at Cabela's right now is sweetening the deal...

Currently have a hand me down Diamond Outlaw (single cam) and thinking about upgrading to a Bear Adapt 2 HP (dual cam). The Bear seems decent enough and the price is right... Shooting the Diamond is pretty dang slow and I'm pretty sure I need to replace the strings on it since the servings are unraveling. Is it crazy to replace the strings on a 12-13 year old budget bow? Am I just pretty much doing a one for one swap with the Bear (budget bow to budget bow)?

Would like to shoot a heavier arrow and I'm not sure the Diamond can handle it.

Thoughts?

Shoot the Bear and compare. You'll know if you want it or not after a few arrows at the bowshop or there may be something else you like more on the rack.

Bear makes good mid tier equipment. I’ll bet a new bow by Bear will blow any decade old bow away as far as advancements.

I would still replace the strings and make the old one a backup. Stuff happens and leaves your main bow on a shelf waiting for parts 8 days before opener. Don’t ask me how I know this.
