So pretty much makes any gps app ( On X or Gaia) useless?

Doesnt affect phone GPS. I store my phone in the back and use Gaia and Onx no issue

Not at all. Your phone GPS is using satellite signals for positioning data. Only the compass function would be affected. This does not affect your track data, ability to navigate to a point, etc.

I too ran a small with my slc 10s and did not use lens covers.
