My first lite wick top is plumb worn out... holes all over in it, runs, snags and sag. I got my money's worth out of it and it's time to replace. Before I just buy the same piece again I wanted to get some insight on other options:

1. Has anyone cracked the synthetic garment stink problem yet? I hunt a ton in hot weather. Merino is just okay in hot + humid conditions, but the stink of synthetic...

2. Any new/better merino options out there?

The Sitka 120 material is pretty awesome for me so far. As or more durable as a 150 gsm merino with the nylon added as it wraps the fiber for durability.

It's my favorite so far and I've tried a lot.

I have a Pro Merino 200 from Kuiu that’s synthetic and merino wool combined. I love the feel of it and it’s very warm for the weight. I can’t speak for the odor retention tho.

Probably not the best fit for hot weather though

Kuiu Peloton 118 zip T is all I wear anymore. Dump heat with the half zip, can usually get 5-7 days out of it before the smell starts getting noticeable. Cooler and dries twice as fast as anything merino.
I tried the Sitka synthetic stuff and it was smelling pretty bad by day 2-3.

Does the stink wash out? I've never had a synthetic base garment that doesn't get too funky to keep clean after a while.

My stand-by is the Kuiu 145 zip hoodie. Fantastic. I’ll never buy anything without a hood again.

I'm in hot humid conditions, Alabama, I use thin merino tech from Am%^&*. I'll grab those light ones on sale. I use their short sleeve and long sleeve versions in the light weight when hot, then add or just go with the heavy weights when it's cold.

This past turkey season, it was hitting 90 some days, hotter walking through clear cuts. 90 degrees plus near 95% humidity, you try that sometime. Floridians, you stay out of this, yep, you boys have it rougher for sure some days chasing Osceolas. LOL. I finally got very smart, I ran a light short sleeve merino plus a thin merino on top, then a cheap cotton over jacket, figured out the merino underwear too. Low 40's in the morning, 90 by 10:00. I would go a week or two without washing just to see, I never smelled anything, the deer did, though. Now, I also would run a thin camo shirt too somedays 60/40 cotton rather than the long sleeve merino. It was whatever I felt like putting on that day, the merino boxes were very nice as was the mernio t shirts.

I haven't found anything better than merino in this heat and humidity. The two merinos sure pull water, though.

Since switching to synthetic I’m consistently cooler/warmer and far drier. My body manages temperature better particularly in cold. Add wind and the gap widens further.

I ran merino from various brands including an aerowool.

I’ve found stink is more a function of hygiene than shirt material, at least in the last 5-6 years or so. Prior to that, yeah synthetic wasn’t great for smelling.
Shave the pits helps a ton.
