Upcoming 30hr Drive!

Make's me feel better about the 15 hour drive I'm starting in the morning. Someone on here turned me on to "Right to Roam" and if you're into the management side of things it's a good show.

We did 25 hours straight from the southeastern corner of Alabama to Gunnison CO a couple weeks ago. There were 4 of us and none of us had ever seen CO, NM, and 3/4 of us had never even been to Texas. We planned on sleeping in shifts, that didn't happen. We were too excited about the scenery and the upcoming hunt. On the way back we cut it in half and stayed east of Dallas one night.

Roadtrips are special, cherish it. I did a hunt in CO when I lived in Ontario. The drive out with my Dad was one of the best parts.

On the recommendation of this thread, I tried to listen to a hunting podcast last night on the way home from work. After at least a 5 minute wind up of blathering, I turned it off and listened to the same old news on the radio. 5 minutes in and nothing about hunting. Good grief it was boring.

So to anyone contemplating ever doing one of these, cut the bullshitting and get to the meat of it!

Maybe I'll try another tonight.

22 hour drive was on 9/8.
Made 1450 first day.
Had base camp setup and was on top with spike camp set up on the second day by dark.
Hearing them talking after dark the miles just faded away.

I felt the same way. The only hunting podcast I can stand is Meateater.

My suggestion is to find podcasts about your other hobbies or interests. My job is in IT, so I listen to a couple related podcasts. Helps me stay current in the industry.

I also listen to several personal finance podcasts. I learn how to save and invest so I can afford more hunts and gear.

The gist of it is to find something that doesn't makes you want to swerve into oncoming traffic.

So if I'm getting this right...you're telling me that you have OTHER hobbies and interests???

Thanks all! Been listening to the Meat Eater podcast. When I need something different I have been cranking the radio to stay awake or listening to Dave Ramsey tell me how to spend my money!

Here in the passenger seat. Are We There Yet?

What dirtclod said!! We need a location update, dambit! Also, if you can (and you can) go see the Ft. Peck Interpretive Center when you're near the damn or if you just need to take a day off from hunting.

I’m working the next ten days straight crab fishing then hopefully pulling off my 16 hour drive Colorado In one day and a night. Gonna be a marathon

My longest drive was NE Indiana to Anchorage when I was 23. Took us about 80 hours with some sight seeing. We had 3 months planned for the entire hunt, so we took our time...8 hrs a day then set up camp somewhere new every night. It seemed like the worlds greatest adventure at the time, and I hope to do it again someday. Time flew by on the road because of the anticipation of the upcoming hunts, the incredible scenery, and the "Milepost"!

Perfect! Now it's time to graduate to something more substantial than Dave Ramsey. He's theme is to pay off debts and save. Which is great and applies to tons of people. Eventually, saving and erasing debt isn't enough. You gotta grow what you save through investing.

Wait. Gotta stop myself. Nobody on this forum wants to read about investing.

American Serengetti is great, and would be especially neat to listen to on a first trip out west.

I haven't used many other apps, but I like Castbox because it's easy to look for different topics. I go back and forth on whether to like Joe Rogan or not, but I enjoy listening to his guests who are hunters.
