Unpopular opinions

If you have every had a safety on a firearm fail causing an accidental discharge, you might think differently.
I've only seen or heard of it happening with Remington bolt actions, which I don't hunt with because they don't have a bolt lock, and with triggers which have been Bubbaed up.
I hunt with factory triggers on Browning, Ruger, and Savages. Never heard of a problem with those.

If it's man made it can and will fail.

Scent control, and I like to use this example: When a human smells chili cooking they smell chili. When a dog smells chili cooking they smell the beans, corn, individual spices etc. Which is why they are so good at busting drug traffickers who try and 'mask the scent' of narcotics. A deer's nose is about 1/3 BETTER then a dogs. How can these spray bottles of scent control fool that nose? I don't think they can. If someone sprayed a steak with this scent control, put the steak on the ground and let their dog go, how confident are you that steak would be left untouched?

I had one. Remington 700 .308. Close the blot and it went boom. If you put it on safety and close the bolt you were fine until you pushed safety to fire. Trigger swap fixed the issue. Then the rifle was destroyed in a house fire, along with multiple other guns.

I’d never own another Remington…..

100% agree. Scent control, cover scents, etc is the biggest scam in the hunting industry IMO. A dog can smell cocaine submerged in gasoline inside a vehicle's gas tank. A deer has a better nose than a dog. There is nothing that will beat their noses as good as a marketing team tries to convince you otherwise.

Could not agree more. I feel like most people pumping high end optics are just trying to make themselves feel better about the thousands of dollars they have spent.
I spent the first ten years of my career staring at insects through a binocular scope. The more hours you spend looking through glass the more you will appreciate quality.

I am not saying I would not use a high end pair of binoculars over a mid range pair. I have looked through swaros next to my Luepold and Vortex and the increase in performance does not justify the increase in price. That is just for me personally. My hunting wishlist is always long enough that a two thousand plus pair of binoculars never makes it to to top of the list. Maybe someday.

It’s not so much a performance issue as it is an eye strain issue.

Young adults hate it when they call in sick more than twice a year and you act real serious about them getting a specialist to diagnose their failing immune system. One of the boys in our family has a new girlfriend that isn’t smart enough to know we can tell when she has brown bottle flu and either can’t make it to work Monday or family events Saturday or Sunday mornings. He is trying hard to come up with believable excuses for her, which we would normally remind him only makes the entire situation seem more pathetic, but it’s a new year and she apparently has magic mommy parts, so I’ve agreed to zip it. Lol

Fun thread.

I put down some beliefs and opinions that I find disagreeable, mainly because there are many good ways to accomplish the end goal and i don't believe anyone has the single best way that everyone else should do/use.

#1 6.5-anything is the best cartridge.
#2 you have to shoot a 650+ grain arrow to get penetration.
#3 No one should take a shot beyond xxx yards.
#4 calling someone a "Fanboy" because they like a product different than you.
#4 telling someone they are wasting their money because they purchase something expensive when something else would work just as good.
#5 almost any statement that includes "a real hunter" would, could, doesn't etc.

We are all hunters trying to enjoy the sport and doing things the way we have learned to and is working for us.

I like debate and a little back and forth for sure, just don't particular like when someone thinks everyone should do thing their way.
