Unknown suppressors OG testing

Alright. Don’t you have Hardy OTB’s there?
Yep ... and they're the guys I was referring to.

Their options are:
  • Stealth: is a pretty hefty 420 g (14.8 oz) for a stated 32-38 dB reduction, at 150 mm muzzle forward and 150 mm over barrel
  • Covert: 365 g (12.9 oz), 28-32 dB stated reduction, 150mm muzzle forward, 50mm over barrel
  • Compact: 290 g (10.2 oz), 22-28db stated reduction, 80mm muzzle forward, 120mm over barrel
There's also a Magnum and Ultra Mag, but the weights are a bit of a killer.

Ah. Got you.

Ah. Got you.
And I'm guessing that means you see the dilemma (at least by the numbers, not tone):

the Stealth has good noise reduction, but is more than 50% heavier than the OG.

The Covert is pretty good for sound reduction, but heavier than ideal, and 50% more muzzle forward than the OG (for comparison).

The Compact is good in terms of weight and muzzle forward, but dB performance drops a fair bit.

I get that it's game of trade-offs, but when compared with the overall specs of, say, the OG, each of the Hardy offerings seems more they have a key drawback, rather than standing out for their relative benefits ...

I shot my used OG for the first time this morning. From a 23-in 7x57 and a 20-in 30-06 both shooting full power loads, I'm genuinely confused about all the complaining of this can being loud. It's not any louder than my Omega 300, which was considered good for sound suppression for a long time. Now it might not be as quiet as the OG 65 on a 20-in Creedmoor, but it's really not that much louder either, and it's definitely nothing to complain about.
