Having paralysis analysis - got my OGs home tonight. I’ve got three rifles and only two OGs. I still have a few other suppressors, so I’ll still have the rifles covered. But those are 7-8 inches long depending on the suppressor with the CAT JL being the current suppressor choice for my 6.5 PRC.
Three rifles
223 tikka/rokstok 18” barrel
22 creed tikka/rokstok 18” barrel
6.5 PRC tikka/rokstok 20” barrel
initially I was going to do the 223/6.5 identical but snagged the 22 creed from @hereinaz and now I’m debating what suppressor goes where. not a fan of moving them around, so once it goes on, it’s staying. I keep seeing that shorty rokstok lite combo @Formidilosus has so I’m leaning towards the 22 creed and 223
Yeah a lightweight 6 inch suppressor isn’t what I have right now. Shortest titanium suppressor I have is the JL which is 8.5”If it helps you make a decision, I would put a 6” or longer suppressor on the 6.5 PRC. I assume you are using it as a long range hunting rifle. The other two will still be carbine length with the 4” suppressors. Given that you have two OGs, keeping them as handy as you can makes sense.
Edit - personally, my plan is to go the other direction. I am planning to put my OG (4") on my 21" .270 Mauser, with occasional use on a 26" .25-06 Mauser. I am putting an AB Raptor 10 (7.2") on my 16.1" .223 Tikka RSS-trainer and an AB Raptor 8 (6.2") on my 20" Tikka 6.5 CM RSS.

Seems like you've got it figured out. OGs on the smaller case 22s and JL on the PRC. Unless you're using the PRC on a hunt where the extra length is going to be more burdensome than normal in which case you spin on an OG.Having paralysis analysis - got my OGs home tonight. I really plan to use the 22 creed a bunch this fall, but the 6.5 has been dead nuts for me and saw a lot of work last year.Seems like you've got it figured out. What was the actual weight of your JL? I've seen reports of them coming in considerably over spec.

So in a short barrel (14-16") creedmoor is the og "enough"?
I realize it's purpose built im just not sure where it would start getting uncomfortable.
Or at that point are you better getting a bit more in front of muzzle at the sacrifice of a little more length?
It is a hodge podge of components that I had Rbros (who used to be local) put together for me. I bargain binned a bunch of decent parts and he built it out for me: BAT vrd action, rock creek barrel, McMillan stock, badger bottom metal and a geissele 2 stage. The scope is a S&B PMII 10xLove the scope and rifle - details???
@Formidilosus Do you see a specific use case for the reaper? Or is it simply the minivan of suppressors to you? What about short sbr bolt actions. Even down to 12".
Edit to add: I'm a noob as far as suppressors go and all. The only can I've heard is an ab-10 on my Tikka 223. I love it.
Thanks for the good response!Ehh. Yes and no. 3-5 years ago I would have said it was the best overall can on the market because there weren’t any OTB cans that weren’t logs on the front end (AB), or weigh 20+oz (OPS INC). It’s going to be an excellent can for someone that doesn’t know what an OTB is, or who doesn’t know what rifle they want to use a suppressor on, or who wants to out it in magnums and doesn’t really care about length. I imagine it will run fine on a gas gun, but I’ll have to see to be sure. For a lot of people, it’s the can they think they want. I have little doubt it will be US’s best selling can. It’s a Scythe that doesn’t suck.
For my use…. I don’t think I have a single rifle I want to use it on. But that isn’t because the Reaper isn’t good for what it is- it’s excellent. I feel that way about all the muzzle forward 5-7” cans.
I haven’t used a CGS Hyperion K since February and those were my favorite bolt gun cans. Nor have I the TBAC, DD STi’s, JK, etc, etc. For bolt action hunting cans I want at least mid 130’s dB’s, with the smallest form factor to get it. If I want more suppression, I want SUPPRESSION and I have 9” long muzzle forward cans. I also am using several proto’s from US that are phenomenal, but I don’t think those will be sold.
I will have multiple Reapers on hand for guns where it makes sense, and for large magnums it definitely does. But, while everyone else sees 6” muzzle forward cans as “all-around” cans, I see them mostly as specialty cans.
Thanks for the good response!
Out of curiosity..what 9" inch type cans do you like.
And is US going to bring one to market?![]()
I toy around with doing an sbr bolt gun and just want to make sure I get enough suppressor. My theory is to buy the suppressor first. Cause it's one thing I have to have for any given rifle. Lol
