That's wild. I just found out about these. I live 5 minutes away from where GSL suppressors are made so that's what I own. Plus they have a huge veteran discount. But they are longer than I would like.

I was going to start a new thread but saw this one. Here are my thoughts after about 500 rounds with both the OG65 & Airlock 6.5:

The two are almost the same exact can insofar as it pertains to lightweight hunting suppressors as far as most guys will be concerned (i.e, lightweight suppressor that adds 4” to muzzle and makes it suppressed). But personally I would lean toward the OG65 after having both for a while.

As far as their physical attributes, I like the way the OG65 looks on the rifle more than the Airlock. The extra 2oz…you don’t feel it. The OG65’s slimmer diameter makes it slightly easier to keep it out of the scope’s view (as when adding a suppressor cover). The fact that it’s 8” long means I can grip it with both hands when tightening; to date the only suppressor I’ve ever had work loose was the Airlock, and several times, until I gave it the ‘ole man hands (bc it’s so short and there’s less leverage). The Airlock is just a touch worse with mirage. Only knock against the OG is that if I really leave it there for years will I find rust on the barrel later? But that’s just my OCD talking. Heck after hunting season I just shoot some Hornady One Shot up there, so meh.
All this said….looks are subjective, you can learn to tighten either down with no ill effect, and running without a cover as I do has made the diameter difference a non-issue. The only real difference in form factor is whether you have or plan to have a large enough diameter barrel where the OTB will be an issue.
The biggest difference between them is the sound.

The lower tone of the OG65 means that if I have a fast & close opportunity at an animal, it’ll be ever so slightly less harsh to my ears. On late season deer I’ve done this twice (bc I just forgot to put earbuds in).
But in such a situation it’s slight, and given that 99% of all shots fired will be with hearing protection…don’t know that this is really enough to sway a guy one way or the other.

Apart from being the shooter in hunting situations, I’ve shot over 300 rounds with both side-by-side I will say that the tone difference is noticeable. It’s not “well, I’m tone deaf so…”
Nah. It’s just that guys don’t specifically pay attention or aren’t around other shooters or don’t do drills or heck just don’t shoot much. But it’s very obvious when you’re around a lot of different shooters & suppressors.

The most specific/highest round count suppressor testing I’ve done was specifically between the Airlock & OG 6.5mm cans; what became very obvious was that from the shooter’s perspective under your earmuffs the Airlock will sound like a neat hiss and the OG65 will sound like a boom. So guys just shooting off a bench at the 100yd range will say the Airlock is better. But take the earpro off and stand 10-30yds back, the opinions sway the other way bc the OG’s lower tone suddenly becomes “way less harsh”. The overwhelming agreement was that their volume is equal but their tone sets them apart
Personally I believe the lower tone helps more with animals’ inability to locate the source of the sound…but zero data to back up the belief.

In the end…to most consumers they’re pretty much the same darn thing. Same 4” in front of the muzzle, seem to be the same volume, weight difference is negligible. But to me and everyone who helped with testing for a high number of rounds, it’s just a fact that the OG65 sounds better. That said, the determining factor between them for most consumers will likely be their barrel contour and perceived issues with OTB design.

And today I pitted the OG65 against the OG-S on a couple near-identical rifles. 6CM & 243. Buddy shot two with each, we swapped cans, repeated the test. That way the slightly different loads couldn’t be blamed for the results.

My only test was to stand 20 or so yards back without earpro for these 8 shots. Four, then about 20min later the other four. I’m not likely to delve any deeper into it, but wanted to share.

Results? I’m incredibly impressed with what they were able to accomplish with the OG-S. The tone is almost the same as the OG65, the volume very slightly louder. I think it’s the perfect can for my 6ARC (noticeably quieter than the 6CM/243). But, yes the OG65 is slightly quieter.

After spending time with the OG, Airlock 6.5, OG65, and OG-S…if I had to pick just one it would be the OG65 hands down.

I wish they would have a option to get the OG 6.5 and 6 threaded for 1/2" from the factory and avoid the adapter nonsense.

It’s just not do able with tooling. 5/8 is hard enough.

Has anyone tried to clean one of these US reflex cans? I shoot enough that I add a couple of ounces of carbon to a suppressor before too long. With a muzzle-forward suppressor with an end cap and/or hub mount it's very easy to clean out that carbon using Breakthrough suppressor cleaner. Is it possible do do this with these one-piece reflex cans?

Stainless it can discolor after awhile, titanium like our cans it’s perfectly fine. Haven’t noticed it hurting Cerakote but don’t leave it in there for multiple days etc just to be safe.
