Any general direction in this unit for early archery?

Hunting pressure?

Good unit, with the archery season.

Big country with steep mountains. I scouted it years ago and was impressed with the bucky habitat. Bucks will be very high for that hunt. Don't hunt the rocky goat stuff, but the big green cliffy stuff. All of the high stuff that looks like that has good potential. If you can scout early, that will help narrow the country down quite a bit on where to start.

If you research the CBA / P&Y record books, that unit encompasses two major counties (La Plata & San Juan). 95% of the bucks entered in the book are from La Plata County......more specifically, the La Plata Mountains. Might want to scout and check that range out.
