I was excited to draw a unit 22 tag this year and had hopes of possibly finding a true pig of a bull. With some help from a few people who had hunted the area including the game warden I went and checked it out in July. Cool country with a lot of varying terrain. After scouting and a little archery hunting I decided to focus on one part of the unit for the rifle season. This section is mostly burned timber and open rocky canyons, very different from what I hunt in western Wyoming. By my second trip out with a rifle I realized that my goal of a 350 bull was a little over the top. Not to say they aren't there, but I think 330 is about it for that area. I covered a lot of country and looked over too many bulls to count.
The day I shot my bull I had over 100 file past me in a small canyon and I shot the biggest one. Fun hunt with easy access and lots of elk. Also I never saw another person while I was hunting and heard 2 shots.

I like him! Especially the part where the country is not steep and nasty, thats what I call a good elk!

Great Bull and nice post!!

Nice bull! My friend and I were lucky enough to draw the 2 tags they gave out this year regular preference points. Neither of us have been to this area and are excited about a once in a lifetime hunt. I don't think a person could live long enough to draw this area twice. Did you pay a trespass fee or all public? Thanks

Looks like an awesome hunt, I'll be cashing in my max points soon and this unit is on the short list.

Thanks
It was fun hunting country that isnt super steep and nasty with people around every corner

Looking for information on WY Unit 22 elk. Planning on archery hunting to start. I have experience in unit 111, but would like realistic expectations on bull size . Don’t mind holding out for bigger than avg bull. Willing to hunt hard and in remote areas. Thanks Dan
