A friend and I who normally back country elk hunt together are looking at doing an Alaska unit 20A moose hunt. We're thinking about using some of our back country elk hunting pack-in tactics and applying it towards moose hunting. I've hunted Alaska a few times before over the years - every time involving a bush plane. I know moose are HUGE and we need to be mindful of being able to get a moose out and to a processor within 72 hours of the kill. Is there anyone on here familiar with the area that I might be able to PM about some general questions? I'm really looking for input on things to expect or avoid. Definitely not asking for suggestions and where to hunt - just general questions about the unit.

thats a tough area, maybe try describing the area without blasting the exact unit and attracting more attention to it. Some people hunt these areas year after year and not a one a done situation.

The eastern half of 20A has abundant wheeler trails going as far as Mt Hayes and beyond and the military has flight restrictions in that area also.
