Unit 076-81 Nevada Elk?

Does anyone have experience here? I have a late rifle tag starting in a few weeks.

I've got late 72-74 starts this week. Your area is known for some really huge bulls. Contact Kari at NDOW - she's the biologist for that area and super friendly/informative. She's constantly monitoring herd movement, can tell you where hunting pressure is likely to be, etc. Not sure if you're in NV or not, but weather is warm and mild for this time of year, no to traces of snow so tracking will be a bit challenging, but the word is that there are a lot of bulls this year - high, deep, and think. Prepare to hike in and pack out. Bring a couple of buddies to help.

I’m starting on the 22nd. Hunting near Jackpot area. Bringing a few friends for sure and prepared for cold. Just wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge. Thanks all!

Met up with Blaine Jackson who lives in the area and is a guide. He told us to come 4 days earlier than planned because they were getting into 10-15 bulls a day and most of the first season hunters were gone, and my voucher allowed for first and second. First day we went out we glassed on broken bull early and it was fairly slow so we moved. Once we moved we found 5 bulls together but nothing worthy of the first day. They hadn’t really seen much bigger than 320 all season so I was hoping for a clean / pretty bull somewhere in the 330+ range. We drove over to a plateau and started glassing and glassed up this bull at 2000 yards bedded under some junipers. He was right above the road that we just had driven by 520 yards . We are guessing that he could not see the road well from where he wAs and the wind covered our sound because it’s kind of crazy we never busted him. We watched him for a while seeing if he was broken, or short on any of his tines. It didn’t take me long to know I wanted him so now we had to find a plan of action. We decided to try and drive under him again to see if we could see him from the lower road and had another friend glassing him from another side so we would know where he went if we busted him. We drove right under him at 520 yards and could see his rack with our naked eyes. We looked up the hill and he was facing away chewing and didn’t even know we were there. I didn’t have much of a shot except his back but decided to try. I hit him first shot and a second shot rolled him over in his bed. This was the biggest bull they had seen all year and they called him micky mouse. Unbelievable that was was so complete for this time of year and I couldn’t be happier. Any guesses on score?
