Recently bought a Peak 44 Bastion second hand here for a 25 PRC.

Hadn’t shot super yet and based on the size and shape of the groups I was suspicious from the start of the bedding, as you can feel it create a “lever” over the lug area.

So I threw that stock on another Tikka 6CM that is a hammer, and sure enough there was a huge difference in groups. Now, this surely isn’t perfect science since it’s a different rifle, but it was enough for me to decide to redo the bedding.

My question is, would you dremel the entirety of the old bedding out AND remove the lug and start from scratch in the lug area? Kinda’ seems to me like the lug needs to come out and be re-bedded for the rifle that will live in it.

And yes, action screws, rail screws, scope ring screws, etc are all degreased and torqued, nail polished in, scope is a LRHS, not at all concerned with the rest of the system.

Difference in groups between stocks on the 6CM to confirm a bedding issue…

I would probably pull the lug and start fresh
If yo have access to a soldering iron hang it so it rests on top of the lug
It should pull out when it gets pretty hot
