Barrel with uneven leads? Anyone with experience this barrel has leads that start uneven. Will it impact accuracy and is it worth bothering to shoot/tune. ThanksIMG_6104.pngIMG_6104.pngIMG_6106.pngIMG_6110.png

The leade is one component of the throat that can be ever so slightly out of square and make it appear that the lands are different heights.

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking with these pictures.... but it does look like the reamer picked up a chip right behind the bushing.... which sucks.

Will it affect accuracy? It won't help.

I have one barrel that I bought used with a off square chamber and despite the quality of components.... it's not a fun gun to tune.

Definitely not ideal, but it might not make a difference depending on your accuracy goals. Bushings aren’t an exact fit, cut rifling groove depth isn’t always exactly the same depth, not every barrel is dialed in exactly, and so forth.

Once in a while pass around a photo of a very off center chamber that still shoots great.

Personally I’ve not been lucky and a top quality barrel installed by a big barrel maker with a chamber slightly off kilter, didn’t shoot better than the mediocre barrel it replaced.

I’d definitely shoot it - right away you’ll know if it has potential.

An off center chamber is from sloppy, lazy work. They make bore rods and indicators so that doesn’t happen. What else did he screw up would be my question.

Was a pre fit barrel i could return. Decided not bothering with it. I suppose any great barrel can still not look right or any bad barrel can look right. No way to know till try it but playing it safe with another company’s blank to be finished instead. Thanks for replys…
