Under rated whitetails

I know it kinda crazy but the more I chase these eastern whitetail especially the Appalachian mtn chain. Oh forget about everything western but mule deer. I really want to spot and stalk archery a mule deer kr three

I would say from the view of what people talk about more and are willing to take time off of work for. Western hunting is treated as more of a destination hunt. In the 80/90's there seemed to be a lot more media about whitetails. Now it is mostly about hunting in the West for iconic species. Nothing wrong with that. But you seldom hear of people talking about taking a trip to go hunt somewhere else for whitetail.
Your right I would even go as far as saying early to mid 2000s all the media talk was of Midwestern whitetail chasing big bucks was all the rage not saying thst it isn't still extremely popular but all that attention has drove lease and land prices up all across the midwest and now I belive the attention the western species are getting has alot to do with the tag situation. Unfortunately the price to hunt Midwestern whitetail hasn't come back down yet

I doubt the prices will go down. People are still willing to pay the going price of leases, hunts, and land prices. Land prices though are more a result of supply and demand. The Eastern states also like to revenue of higher tag prices. But some of that is justified in my mind since the price of everything has gone up, except employee wages. Just to maintain food plots on public ground the price has at least doubled or more just for clover, from the techs I have talked to in Iowa.

IMO Whitetails are over rated. I've hunted them basically anyway you can. Typical Midwest stand hunting, deer drives, spot and stalk archery, ambush in a ghillie suit, still hunting in the Black Hills (WY), Rifle in Montana River bottoms and in the ND badlands.

I still enjoy it but Whitetails would be the first big game animal I would give up hunting.

I hunt the western state of Wyoming for mulies and antelope great hunts, but for me there is nothing that compares to whitetail hunting, likley one of the smartest animals in the woods you could hunt.
