I've had the unpronounceable jacket 2.0 since it came out, I'm finally over it. The sleeve cuffs make it hell to wear a watch being so tight and the hem on the front is so short it feels like a crop top. Ok maybe exaggerating a bit but seriously the cuffs are incredibly annoying.

Anyway I'd like to get a new coat since its been a few years. I run cold, but have a chamberlain for the really nasty stuff. I'm hoping for as durable or more so, as warm or warmer, and icing on the cake would be more of a "tail"/seat. My 2.0 I've taken with me on all types of hunts backcountry included and plan to do same with the replacement.

Doesn't have to come from a hunting company and prefer solid colors anyway.

I'm thinking the LPP is the ticket but hoping collective knowledge/experience here points me at something I might have missed.

The lpp is Michelin man status compared to the FL you have. Can be good or bad depending on use case, but it’s waaayy warmer/bulkier than the FL in my experience

First Lite is coming out withe a replacement for it this year. It will be called the North Range (Windproof, water-resistent, 133GSM of primaloft gold, zippered chest pocket and tricep vents, removable hood and cinch hem).
Any details on release date / price? Been seeing images of what looked like a lighter version of the white cloud. Been curious.

Kuiu Kenai hooded jacket for active insulation and layering versatility. Been a user since 2019 and now own 3, one which I use as a beater around town or when working in the garage. Ran the FL Uncompaghre for a season or two, now relegated as a town jacket once I discovered the Kenai.

I have the exact feedback for the 2.0 piece from FL. Always assumed the torso length and sleeve cuffs were designed to be under a shell as insulation.

I am generally a fan of the performance for 15-40 degree temps, but the fit makes it a weird piece for me.

Ill be interested to learn more about this new "North Range" piece.

I have one as well, but I like it a lot for potential wet/snow weather. Take a look at the Brooks Down Sweater from First Lite. It is down though. It seems to be sized a bit different, so I had to go up a size.

If you want a "tough" synthetic puffy that will keep you warm the Kifaru LPP is a good choice. Fit is good and tail is longish (not overly long). It's like any synthetic piece though, so will be heavier and won't have anywhere near the longevity of down.
