UM Tikka Ring Design Change?

I've had the experience a couple of times of calling with no answer. Not too big of a deal for a fairly small company.

(But when they have answered, it's been a woman who is so helpful, friendly, and perky that I've felt like flying across the world to take her out to dinner. Really hoping that's not Jake's wife, or that could be awkward.)

Emailed in on 4/26 for an exchange per Jake’s note above, haven’t received anything for how to effectuate the exchange yet. At this point, should I just keep them?

I got my set a month ago. Saw the difference. Thought it was odd. Mounted them anyway. I’ve been shooting it and I honestly forgot they were mismatched. While bear hunting I was sitting there watching a bug crawl over them and thought “oh shit I forgot about that”

I wasn’t going to send them in and said so in this thread, but Jake specifically called me out and said to send them.

I was a hardcore UM customer and moved away a few years ago. Speaking of drop tested and approved, I was an RO at and NRL-H event I saw UM rings fail to hold a scope on my stage. This was an UM employee I was told and the owner of SRS in the same squad. It happens and the rings were new and I don't think one incident constitutes a trend or an absolute. I just remembered all the fan fare and "drop tested stuff" so I noticed because I had just seen a Nightforce fail a few squads earlier. I do love SRS stuff and I have Ken's rails on every hunting rifle I own and just installed two more.

Fast forward to today and I wanted to keep a scope low and not use a rail on of a matching pair of rifles so I order 2 sets from UM directly. First I only received one set of rings but the packing order said complete and 2 shipped. I emailed and never received a reply but I did eventually get the second set of rings. I packed them to Alaska and opened them up to find what everyone has noticed already. Fortunately I brought my Fix it Sticks so I had everything I needed. It's on me because I did not want to deal with logistics of returning them and I wanted the rifles up and running. I have no doubt UM would have replaced them.

Going forward it's going to be an SRS or Area 419 rail with matched 419 hunt rings. I don't think you can get better than bored in pairs and serialized sets for alignment and clamping.
