UM Tikka Ring Design Change?

Hello Roksliders,

I am here to share all the Tikka Ring info. All info supplied below is the most accurate, up to date, information available for UM Tikka Rings.

First and foremost......GEN2 upgrades:
1- The new Titanium clamp will be standard on both Standard Tikka and Tikka Premier rings that are coming very soon. Tikka Premier rings will be nearly identical to UM Premier (pic) rings that we have today with the integrated level. The new standard clamp is machined grade 5 titanium which is the reason it's not coated. The previous clamp was anodized aluminum.
2- Clamp geometry was re-designed to allow more clamping force. Between the new geometry and the clamp being titanium, we are able to significantly increase the holding capability of the rings to the small action dovetail.

Two QC issues reported recently:
1- Mismatched screws- I buy screws in bulk from Aspen Fasteners. In the off, rare chance that we are out of screws and Aspen cannot fill an order quickly, I will source screws from McMaster. In this mismatch screw situation, there were some screws left at the bottom of a bin when the bulk order came in and they were mixed. This is the first time this has happened and has been addressed with the person responsible and won't happen again. This is an aesthetic only issue and does not affect the function of the rings. Anyone that may have this issue is welcome to email us and we will send out new screws.
2- Mismatched beveled edge between cap and base- While transitioning from GEN1 to GEN2 rings, a programming issue happened due to confusion over Premier Ring caps and standard caps causing the bevel not to match. This issue happened to a small batch of caps that made it into the public. Once the issue was realized, all caps were pulled from production and corrected. Again, this is the first time this has happened and has been addressed and won't happen again. This is an aesthetic only issue and does not affect the function of the rings. Anyone that may have this issue is welcome to email us and we will send out new caps.

I should've updated everyone sooner on the GEN2 improvements, but honestly I was waiting until all sizes and heights were ready to release. That turned out to be a bad idea. We will have new product and installation videos coming very soon with Anthony, our new videographer.

I apologize for all the confusion this has led to, and hopefully this info will square everyone away. I will watch this thread in particular tonight and tomorrow to answer any follow up questions you might post.

Thank you guys and of course we appreciate all of your support!

Will there be an option to buy the titanium clamp for those of us that have a bunch of the Gen 1 rings?

For some reason he always does? It’s kinda weird actually. Unless form receives compensation which I have read multiple times he does not.
Form is kind enough to test products for me when needed, and most importantly warn me when the Rokslide Conspiracy Theories start to get out of hand. He receives no compensation of any kind, but it's weird though at the same time.

For what it is worth, I opened a pair of rings ordered last week. My screws all match, but the caps do not. As long as function isn’t impacted, I don’t really care that the edges don’t match.

I obviously wouldn’t mind it matching, but in the grand scheme of things, I’d rather have a credit against another purchase rather than replacing something that already works with something else that doesn’t work any better…. View attachment 1057501
Please email us and we will replace them.

I emailed and addressed the screw issue and lack of postage that required me to have to pay. I know its cosmetic but for the amount of money I spend I also asked for matching caps. My OCD cant stand it.
Thank you for you kind and respectful email Matt. As my reply said, I will get 2 brand new sets of rings out to you first thing tomorrow morning, NDA with FedEx this time so there aren't any more issues with USPS

I really appreciated the Mickey Mouse comment in your email, here are some pics of the Mickey Mouse Shop where the rings are manufactured and assembled.

LOL about RCT’s. You guys bring it on yourselves. Just the Tikka rings. Offset. Which was known, yet you kept manufacturing them like that anyway. Mis matched screws. Mismatched ring caps from bases.

Doesn’t look like any RCT’s to me. Looks like shitty QC.

As you'll read in my long explanation, the caps and screws were addressed as QC issues.

Unfortunately, mistakes happen in business and people have bad days. Especially when you are trying to continuously develop and improve products for the consumers benefit with so many moving people and parts.

Not sure what you mean by we kept doing it, both of these QC issues were addressed immediately once I was notified and production stopped. SRS recut all the caps and the mismatched screws were found and discarded from the bin.

Thanks for being such an awesome guy with constructive feedback.

I thought the original rings were completely form tested and approved.

How did it come about that they needed a redesign because of failures?

I would figure he would catch that?

Probably because he only shoots tiny guns?
The original GEN1 were tested and approved.
This was an inline product improvement to reduce SKU's across the UM Ring Line with our new models coming out. We also used the opportunity to improve geometry for better clamping force. No one said redesign because of failures.

I thought they could only handle 7prc and below?
Maybe that was different rings that were slipping?

I for one am very happy with iterative product improvements, so please do not misinterpret any of my comments as anything against that. I will email you per your request, but as above I am not bothered by the issue.
