Terrible decision to have mismatched tops and bottoms. Clearly trying to recoup costs on already made parts and using them up until they run out. The mismatched screws is beyond explainable. Lack of QC.

Yea paying a premium price vs Sportsmatch rings then feeling like they cut costs on ya with old stock isn't great.

I just ordered some 30mm lows this week from S&S as they were in stock, mine seem to be the old gen’s…
Have had a pair on my 6.5 creed that have never failed me so I’m not too worried but it would be nice to have the upgraded titanium ones.

I almost ordered a set a week ago but I'm just watching the classified for a set now. I'm doubt functionality is an issue but the inconsistency does irk me.

I agree not super stoked about it. They are sending me matching screws but still kinda look like they were put together out of a parts bin. Kinda feel like UM should reimburse me a little cash because I would essentially call these "blems" in my eyes. Mixed matched screws and top and bottom rings....

I think some companies would just sell them as blems at a discount. Similar decision to charging cc fee only when something is on sale. I got no problem with either but not a fan when it's not stated up front.

I was going to purchase two more sets, but will probably look elsewhere now. I hate that because I really like the rings.

Farmer Ken and his trusty HAAS hammer to be correct. It’s actually because the lowers were modeled after the premier rings and then these are the standard tikka uppers. This will be remedied on the next run.

@Stud Duck above was the original post that mentioned the mismatch. Maybe @Ryan Avery would have info also (?)

Scope sold still have the rings. Sounds like I better throw them up and charge a premium.

Man oh man.

I am building out a tikka 300WM and am slapping a maven RS1.2 scope on, so surprise surprise, my research lead me to UM mounts.

The Tikka rings are on back order, and got an email response saying they will be back in stock “in a few weeks”, so I went down the rabbit hole of looking at every other available option.

Roads key pointing me back to UM, but eventually lead me to the bent pin phenomena/torque spec discrepancy (some other 10page thread here on rokslide, IYKYK), and finally here to this thread.

UM has removed the “not recommended for 7PRC and larger” disclaimer in their webpage, so I assumed a design change with this next batch.

I applaude the continuous improvement efforts on this product line, but maybe not the most graceful transition… a little too Frankenstein for my blood.

Does anyone have intel on the design updates for the next run “in a few week” before I decide to say eff this completely and order a Murphy rail and NF rings so I never have to think about this again?

Update. UM said they would send me matching screws for the rings. 2 days ago I got an envelope left in the mail because UM didnt put enough postage on the package. So I had to pay .49 cents to the mail carrier. Since then the package hasn't shown up so can comment yet on what I was sent. But im not impressed with my experience thus far. If they weren't both already mounted and zeroed on guns id send them back

Honestly, I’d send them back. You basically received blems for full price.

FWIW, my mother sent me a birthday card and the post office made me give them 78 cents to deliver it.

Just a regular birthday card with a gift card inside of it. She put the same stamp on it as any of card I've ever gotten.

It's a hassle for the OP, but I don't think that was overt negligence by UM. His rings are pretty ugly though...
