I’m sure it will be built fine and I’ve heard they will make things right but god damn tell me the truth….stop telling me it’s in bedding for 3 months. Tell me hey we got an influencer that needs to jump you. Sad thing is I was planning on building several rifles with UM.

I think early on when Blaine was the one man show it was the tits……but they have grown and now facing issues that can be detrimental. Probably not the time to build a suppressor, action, or scope.
What scope are they building?

I put in a build with UM in July, I put down the final deposit this week as they are chambering this week or next. So far they have been awesome to work with and provide feedback and have been flexible with some changes I requested along the way.
According to podcast it will be another 5-7 months

Full price in advance and 2 years is unacceptable. Many gunsmiths have gone through growing pains, hopefully this is just that.
I just want to clear this up. OP is NOT saying UM is taking two years for his builds! It's his (or someone's) usual gunsmith. Several posters apparently missed that.
Edit: JM beat me to it.

I had UM build one last year. I think it was 4 months. Everything turned out great.

I don't understand complaining about paying up front. If you didn't like that agreement, why did you proceed?
When you tell the customer we need rest of your money so we can start your build, implies this should only be couple weeks. That’s my issue. I’m sitting at 6 months since paid in full.

Glad to hear it’s a shooter

I recently received my UM built 7PRC. It took right at a year., I believe mainly because of the RokStok backlog. I’ve read a fair amount of negative remarks about UM and the RokStok quality control. This had me a little concerned about what kind of a build I was going to get. Well, I couldn’t be happier with this particular build. The fit and finish is great! I only have a couple of boxes of factory ammo through it so far, but it looks like it’s going to be a great shooting rifle.
The build consists of a Tikka action that’s nitride coated with a slow spiral fluting on the bolt. A 20 inch Bartlein carbon fiber barrel, a full pattern cerakote RokStok, UM rings with an NX8 NiteForce scope. Chambered in 7PRC.
Thank you for the feedback, that's a beautiful rifle!

Unfortunate circumstances for sure. I'm sure the build will end up being fine. And they do have good customer service after orders are fulfilled if you have issues. I've bought thousands of dollars worth of shit from them, but never a gun.

BUT you did not order a gun from a gunsmith. UM is a marketing (influencer getting his gun before you) and sales company at this point, which is totally fine of course once you realize that. But rifle builds are just a branch of the business. You have no idea who is even working on your rifle... besides maybe Blaine, which seems like a standup badass dude. But I doubt he is doing every aspect of every build that comes through the shop.
This is great insight, thank you!

Ok seems like we have established lead time concerns. Would like to focus on how the rifle shoots.

Are they sub 1/2 MOA rifles?
Are they hard to develop a load?
Fit and Finish?

Lack of responsive has me worried. Where are all the positive feedbacks? Are the comments made about lack of quality labor force a real thing? Do I really want a gunsmith that is hiring people off the street?

Further more I have a build in with UM and what drives me crazy is that all my components were in stock…..an influencer by name of papwinkle received his rifle before me and I put my order in months before him. Just saying that doesn’t seem right. Stop telling me for the past 3 months my rifle is in bedding!!!

Another issue I have is that I have to pay in full before the build starts. I have a lot of custom rifles and nobody and I mean nobody does that.
Unknown Munitions does a lot of things, but we build rifles well.

Of course we have people hired off the street, where else do you find them?

Blaine Painter and Taylor Thom have been the only 2 chambering rifles at Unknown Munitions for it's entire time in business. Both are absolutely phenomenal machinists, need to clear up that gunsmith word.

There are only 2 other gentlemen on the rifle build team, one is Keaton Lyons who came to UM from Weatherby with 5 years of rifle building and Cerakote experience and has been with us for 2 years. And Alek who is the newest member of the team and also of course is phenomenal at his job.

These are the only gentlemen building rifles and they are very good at what they do!

UM is not a marketing company, we do not give influencers preference unless it's @Ryan Avery going in to the shop and telling my guys to put his stuff first. @Formidilosus is guilty of this too.

If you email me your name to [email protected], I will personally look into your build and figure out what is going on.

I'm sorry you don't agree with our business practices. We require 50% up front and 50% when we chamber. This is only sue to the amount of times we've been burned with rifles not getting paid for with some dumbass cartridge that will never sell. We didn't start that way, but were forced into that position.

If lack of responses has you worried, rest assured more people buy rifles from us than just Rokslide members. Feel free to read our 500 x 5 star Google reviews or reviews on other forums and magazines.

We stand behind our products 1000% and have solved any issues since day one no questions asked. Even guys that slam their RokStok in their car door.

We are far from a marketing company. The marketing side is Shoot2Hunt. We have 4 gentlemen that build rifles, I would consider that a very small business with no time for marketing.

I've laid out very clearly to the last gentlemen exactly who is working on your rifle. 2 guys on the lathe and 2 doing assembly, and yes Blaine is one of them. Where is it you guys get this info that you base your comments on?

I'll list it out again on this comment so it can be clear:

Suppressors are an entirely different company ran by someone whos not me, his name is Cliff Brewer and he's a badass.
The scope is a Shoot2Hunt design and it's already full steam ahead, no further input needed.
The action is being built by Procision arms, not Unknown Munitions.

Maybe @Formidilosus was right, I should start hiring all my people from Rokslide, so many experts here!

Again, email me and I will figure out the influencer situation.
