Ultralight Tent Stakes

I run mini groundhogs with my lbo. Actually a mix of minis and regulars

The mini groundhog stakes are pretty hard to beat, very durable and light wt. at 0.3 oz. each. If you’re looking for something a little longer, I’ve had good luck with the 9” carbon fiber Ruta Locura stakes at 0.25 oz., but they’re definitely not made to pound into really hard/rocky soil.

I've been using 7" sections of busted carbon arrows. I'd found some aluminum roofing nails, cut them in half, epoxied the point in one end and the head in the other. 7 pegs weigh 2 ounces and I got some some further use from arrows critters had broken off. The nails were not a perfect fit, but 24 hr epoxy has held them for a few years of limited use. I don't hammer the pegs into the ground though...just push them in and set big rocks on top, which is a better system anyway for where I typically camp at or above treeline.

I've also had great luck with Ruta Locura carbon stakes, in anything but the worst ground. I've broke one in four years (probably 100 nights), and that was because I kicked it myself.

I've used several ul stakes, but have gone back to a mix of Groundhogs and Minigroundhogs

it's shelter dependent, but for anything that really requires holding- the longer original Groundhog is what I use- for example the front/rear guys on a a-frame tarp setup, Mini's for the rest

there are lighter ti shepherd hooks, etc and I'm sure there are places they might be fine, but have had too many pull out for me
