hi folks

i am looking to find a pair of UL waders for next fishing season and i really don't know anyting about it,what you guys are using??I would like a pair i can put in my back pack who doesnt take much space.

Can someone point me in a good direction???
thanks

My waders aren't that heavy really but my wader boots are a little heavy. That said, depending on the hike, I have some neoprene socks that can be worn with the boots without the waders if needed.

I used to use cloudveil wading boots with my Simms waders. Those boots have to be some of the lightest. I started just wearing my crocks instead though and saving the weight when I can get away with it. I agree with trying hip waders if that works for you.

If we're talking chest waders, you'll definitely want something with a sonic weld type of thing. I wear Simms waders and light and packable, they're not. But I do have a pair of Orvis SonicWeld waders and for a bona fide actual wader, I think they're about as light as you'll get. Redington makes a sonic seam wader as well. Any lighter and you're looking at an "emergency use" or overboot wader like from Wiggy's or something.

It's a trade off between light weight and durable. Light weight means fewer layers on the legs or knees and lighter material. Cabelas has some under their own brand that are very light weight, plus you have their guarantee behind them.
