Anyone have ulnar nerve decompression and get back to shooting your bow? How long was recovery and getting back to full draw weight?

I had it and carpal tunnel release on both arms about a month and a half apart. Wasn’t really too bad. Had them in May/Jun and was hunting that fall. Fairly quick recovery but your grip strength won’t be the same. It was a lot easier to recover from than my shoulder surgery.

Also I am only pulling 65 pounds due to the multiple surgeries. Give yourself a good three months and I think if you really work at it you should be back to 85-90%.

Those are great to hear, this will be my second one after having it in high school along with UCL reconstruction. Hopefully it gets worked out this time and I can get back to shooting my bow afterwards.

Do not skimp on the PT and do not "baby" it. This is where recoveries fail most of the time. Obviously take it easy right after the surgery but I cannot stress how beneficial just taking a few walks after surgery is for a quickened recovery.

My comments about the grip strength was due to the wrist parts of my surgeries. Yours, theoretically, shouldn’t be an issue. Only thing from the ulna surgery was that your ulna nerve is “exposed” so it was real easy to hit your “funny bone”. Good luck

I had my right ulnar nerve translocated.my doctor told me it would be very hard to screw the surgery up, and I snowblower the drive way that night. I had less elbow pain pre op than post op

I think it was about 6 weeks until I tried. We had a new born, I was going back to school.... so I didn’t push it. But I shot two with my bow turkeys that spring (surgery in February) and Turkey season is in may here.
I had some numbness in ring and pinky fingers, but I had the most pain at the elbow itself. It was a wonderful decision on my part
