UFC freedom 250

Please explain, because I always find it odd to “pick a favorite.” I just want to see exemplary martial arts, so I find it interesting when people want a certain person to win.

Humans often find one person more likeable, relateable, intriguing, etc than an alternative person. Sometimes people watch sports and competitions and become fans of an athlete or team and in turn, they want that person or team to win.

For me at least, I didn't like topurias arrogance. Massive talent, but a wannabe vonor McGregor persona douche IMO.
I much preferred Justin's fairly humble but tough, patriotic persona. Whether it's real or not is another thing entirely.

But yes, In the end I just love a solid scrap between skilled athletes and that fight was an absolute banger. Its also great to see the heavy underdog come out on top.

Let’s see..

One guy, “Topuria” has his celebratory victory dinner the night before the fight…

Justin on the other hand has delivered countless great fights and humility.

Watching Justin get Topurias corner (his own brother at that) have to quit on the chair was beyond satisfying.

Wow, awesome night of fights. My predictions stunk, but some great action. Gaethje vs. Topuria fight is going to be an instant classic. Just wish it wasn't on a Sunday night. This work day is starting to suck already.

I will be the oddball here, I never cared for Topuria’s arrogance, however the dude is an incredible fighter, and even while battered he kept marching forward.

The extended brake between the 3rd and fourth sure helped him, his body language in the third told me he was done and the dude had some moments in the fourth!

That knee was brutal!

Humbling fight for him, he actually earned some respect from me, not many are taking those shots from Justin!

I find it odd not to have a favorite. But I’m not a samurai meditating before the mortal combat.
Why would I? I’m not emotionally invested in any way. Their politics, life decisions, beliefs, and general demeanor are irrelevant to me. I simply care if they’ve mastered their chosen skill set.

I don’t care if Topuria had dinner to celebrate his victory the night before. Do whatever you gotta do in order to prepare for hand to hand combat, dude. I’ve got no skin in the game, so who the hell am I to judge how an elite level fighter prepares himself mentally?

Have you ever competed in a combat sport while people are watching? It isn’t a knock, it’s a legitimate question. Because there’s a metric shit ton of anxiety that must be wrangled in order to do it. And I respect anyone who can mitigate it.

As I said, I simply don’t care who wins. I only care that they exhibit beautiful martial arts. And now that I write this, I think we may be coming at it from different perspectives. I’ve been training martial arts (as injury allowed) on and off my entire life. I see it as art. Sean O’Malley makes art in there. His traps, feints, and counters are artwork.

You can’t make this up. Only in “merica”

I can’t watch UFC anymore since a good friend died doing it, but did catch this scene. You have a standing president shaking hands with a sweaty/bloody dude that just pummeled a guy in the ring. Not a fist bump, not a wave, a full-on hand grab/shake - DJT looking square into his eyes. Name ONE other world leader that would do that? Amazing.

Spot on in every respect. Ilia won about 80% of the boxing exchanges in 1 and 2, and had Justin an inch from being done with those body shots. Insane grit from both guys honestly

Putin is a Master of Sport in both Sambo and Judo. Pretty sure he’s washed his fair share of blood out of the ol’ gi.

Cool story Mr Miyagi. I like kumite’s.

Your thinking way to deep I bet on teams just so I have a reason to want some one to win.
