Tyvek Shelter?

This is a strange thought but I was wondering if anyone has used Tyvek or something similar to it to make a shelter? It seems like you could get a large chunk and make a cheap tarp with it.

I think it would work as a temporary tarp to get out of a passing rainstorm, but I don't think it would hold up too well in wind. Sure would be loud as Hell in wind or a hard rain, but I've honestly never tried so this is all just theory.

I used to have a thread bookmarked of a couple old codgers that did, it certainly would be cheaper, but not near as durable and not as light! I only need a small piece for my bag. Honestly, how often I would imagine that it would have to be replaced, I don't think it would take long to eat up the savings or at least break even!
