TYTO knives

I've been using one for a while. As far as blade changes, they're pretty similar. Havalon blades fit them, although a tiny bit loose. My favorite thing is that they're much easier to clean up.

Got one yesterday and I feel comfortable changing blades on it with my fingers unlike my Havalon.

God Bless.

cousebitten is right. I got one feeling that if my Havalon wasn't a folder it would be even easier to clean. And it is! Of course, I'm using it on Whitetails, so it may be in contact with more tallow and other mess then a bloodless/quartering method.

In short, simpler is easier.

PS. I see the website promotes the Paracord handled version. They look cool, but I wouldn't want that cord back after being in a deer's thoracic cavity.

Do the knives stay in the sheath good?? If i carry that knife in my pack lid, will the sheath fall off and slice a hole in my pack or my hand when i reach inside??

As it's brand new the Kydex sheath on mine is very tight. Only time will tell if it will stay that way. For the ounce counters my aluminum Havalon is 2.1 oz on my scale and this one w/ sheath is 1.6 oz. the main reason I got this was ease of cleaning.

God Bless.

Iooks like you could run a small piece of cordage through the top rivet hole and tie to the handle for extra security. Definitely picking one up before the fall.

I love mine. So easy to change blades and can't get much lighter. Just be careful even "dull" blades are sharper then you think!

Yep. I'm also switching all my camo to Sitka now. ;)

Switching to Sitka for the third time, you mean.

I'd just keep the blade off until it is time to get to work. Removes all the risk. And you don't have to pack the sheath.

I carry a traditional knife for other jobs. Never felt the need to use the Havalon otherwise.

Remember that time your partner was trying to get his Kestrel out of the Kydex sheath...and it was so tight he pulled so hard that when it gave he sliced into his thumb? Then sat back and watched you process the deer? I'd post a pic of the scar but it's not as impressive as my story makes it out to be.

Ya, they're tight

thats what you get for using your knife to eat oatmeal and not cleaning it off before stowing it in the sheath

Technically that is what I get for forgetting my spork, then using my Kestrel in the sheath for a spoon and letting it harden.

Then being a dummy when pulling it out.
