Two more hunters killed by lightning

I was wondering if the lighting fatality rate was due to a reduction in outdoor activity, but nope to that too. US has seen a 20% increase in outdoor recreation participants in past 10 years. Go figure. 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♂️

Nope. And the weather always changes, especially in my stomping grounds.

This is interesting. I would expect the number to be fairly flat just due to how random getting hit by lightning is. If there was an increase I would have thought it would show since 2019. I wonder if the strike rate shows a similar trend or if maybe just the fatalities are dropping?

Tragic

Have had fishing rods "sing" when storms came in.
Always threw them down and headed for cover

scary and sad stuff. Can someone who knows stuff about science tell me is an alum/magnesium chassis more dangerous in lightning vs a polymer/carbon stock or is it pointless to think about bc trekking poles/barrel etc.
