Hey newbie here, just had my rifle at the range and I couldn’t hear any clicks on my Steiner ranger 3x12-56, I continued on as it was loud and went by the marking on the elevation and windage. By the end of it I was happy with my sighting in at 100m I had quite a good group.
When I got home I decided to try gear for clicks I went 2 up and 2 down back to where they were on both windage and elevation. My question is will my scope still be set where it was before I moved them or do I need to re scope it in? I put it exactly where I had it at the range. Thanks in advance

It is always better to end your adjustment by dialing down to your desired setting as opposed to up. Think about compressing a spring vs. allowing it to expand. These compression adjustments are always more accurate, if there is any discrepancy at all. If the spring mechanism gets sticky or worn over time it is more likely that a spring wouldn't expand at the same rate or get hung up somewhere in it's path of travel than when the turret is compressing it back to where it started. Hence the commonly circulated advice to dial up past your desired setting by at least two clicks and then dial back down to where you want it to be.

This primarily or most commonly applies to elevation turrets and those that you are moving fairly regularly, but I suppose the same should be true of those that you move less often.

I would find out, before hunting w/ it.
