Turning flare gun into firearm?

Heard a story about a guy buying a flare gun from Walmart and using it to shoot 12 ga and .50 AE lol. Ever heard anyone do this before?

Sounds like a great way to lose fingers.

The S&W Governor seems like a much better (safer) way to shoot shot shells from a pistol.
