Anyone here hunt turkeys in Canada. My outfitter in anew brunswick i go with fir bear is doing turkey hunts. I've seen sone up there just never thought of going up there for turkey. Does anyone even travel for turkeys we have them all over the states most of us in our bsck yard. I'm excited they have the option but msybe i'm just not a big turkey guy.

Turkey hunts in Manitoba, I think residents only. Never heard of any other place in Canada.

looking online i see ontario quebec have seasons just csnt picture myself driving all that way for a bird i have in back yard. Are they different ?

Opened up for non residents to apply since 2024 but I can't see why a Yankee would seek to hunt them here. Residents of PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador I can see why applying here could appeal. Save the expense and headaches of travel into the US. Guide required for a non-resident.

I put in for the draw here in New Brunswick but I live here, I was drawn the first year of our season, I was unsuccessful. Had a gobbling strutting bird called in to about 15 yards but could not see a visible beard on it and that is the requirement for harvest here. Must be a bearded bird. It's a cool experience and I'm hopeful to be drawn again.

We don't have the culture of turkey hunting here and with only 5 hunts so far you can experience anything from very wary birds comparable to anywhere to birds so dumb and indifferent to humans that you practically have to engage in fisticuffs to deter them. It's far from a sure thing but a little effort scouting and odds are good.
