I think I want a more stable tripod for truck use. Something I can stand behind and use my straight spotter in wind, etc.

Weight isn’t an issue so looking for something that is not carbon fiber and therefore hopefully fairly inexpensive.

I have a brand new Meopta tripod kit that's a pretty stout setup. It is CF and retails for $299, but if you wanted to meet up I'm sure we could work a deal for under $200. Check it out online.........comes with a ball head and a pan head. The whole kit in box is somewhere around 11 pounds.

If weight is no issue, get a cheap surveying tripod. They are much more stable and cheaper. The only catch is, you'll need a thread adapter.

I clamped my 774 in a bog pod death grip, if you can change out the rifle attachment I can't imagine a more stable tripod!
