King, everything else is just trying to justify why you didn’t get the kings.

Make sure you change upper control arms out to get maximum articulation and longer life on ball joints

Between kings and more tire side wall flex you will kidneys and back will thank you

I hate bilsteins, but if you must go up to 8112’s

Agreed.

A reservoir is REALLY not needed for forest roads. You have to be absolutely bombing at high speeds for a long time to need the extra fluid/cooling.

Depending how much you value comfort, I absolutely would look at shocks where you can adjust the dampening/rebound. Many of the suggestions are going to be way too harsh.

Unless you are hauling trailer or weight on washboard roads and your blistiens 5100 blow out and essentially melt…..,.,,,

My mom is selling me her Lexus GX for my soon to be driving age son. I've been pouring over suspension options for that thing and it's just as confusing as what you are seeing with your F150.

That's my daily driver and hunting buggy. I've had a few different setups.

2" Dobinsons comfort and a 265/70r17 C-rated AT is perfect. It'll reduce the floaty nature of the factory suspension and improve capability a good bit without sacrificing reliability or ride quality.

Guys doing 2.5-3" with stiffer springs, firmer valving and 33-34" E rated tires really kill the ride and bring the geometry too far out of whack. Not saying it cant be done but I am really happy with where mine is at now.

Here's what I ended up going with:
  • 2021+ Ford F150, Fox 2.5 Performance Elite Series Shocks, DSC, set to 2" lift - Adventure Tune from Accutune Offroad (20k miles on them)
  • Icon UCA's - Part #: 98502DJ
  • Method MR305 17x8.5 +25mm, matte black - Part #: MR30578516525 (swapped the fake bead lock nuts from gold to silver)
  • Falken WIldpeak AT4W 285/75/ R17 Part #: 28840588
  • EZ Flate CASE compressor and 4 hose setup (coil)
  • Factory Tow mirrors
  • Rek mud flaps (fronts rub)
  • Go Rhino Dominator Xtreme D6 Side Step Bars; Textured Black (15-24 F-150 SuperCrew) - Item #: T559515
Buy once cry once philosophy on the suspension setup. I've appreciated having the DSC adjustment, especially when towing on the heavier side (rarely). Drove that Uhaul without adjusting, then cranked them all the way stiff and it was a big difference. Think I settled on 3 high speed, 2 low speed for normal driving. Been a while since I messed with them. Here's the full transformation so far.

I've spent at least 50 nights in the bed with my Roll-A-Cot setup. Got the leg extensions and I can store a bin and some other gear under the cot but still sit up a bit. Kinda wish I'd gone for a GFC with the pop up for rainy nights so the full bed space would be available. Considering a rack for the shell and an awning for sunny/rainy camping conditions. Gonna install some BD lights here on an Auxbeam system here before fall.

Went from ~19 MPG to ~17 MPG from stock to now.

Its not on the list but I did the m1 coilovers from rough country. It fixed the major issue with the factory ride which was body roll and sluggish feel in steering. This is my second set from RC and I think they're decent. I do notice on some highways where they cut the concrete i can get stuck on this rebound loop where I feel every seam and its almost to stiff of a ride in this scenario. These havent spent much time offroad yet but this upcoming season should tell me more.

34" E rated tires likely dont help the stiffness scenario.

Avg 16.5 highway with about 600 lbs in back full time.

Not to hijack the OPs thread, but… This is a very interesting conversation. I have a 2014 Ram with 150k miles. The suspension sucks, it’s worn out and all stock. I need to get something better, but don’t want to break the bank investing in a truck that is going away in 5 years. I want to keep some rake, as I do some hauling and towing. Is there a simple plug and play option that won’t break the bank and will provide a good ROI?

Curious as to why? I don’t heavily wheel but they’ve been awesome for my offroad uses
Toasted a set of 5100 on wash board cliche roads. As in oil got hot blew seals and melted shaft protectors.

In general I just do not think they are as good as fox which is second to king’s. I just can’t get the mileage out of them. Even on my wife’s suburban I did a delete kit for magnarides and started out with blistiens and switch to fox after those gave out and it’s a much better ride.

If you drive any amount of dirt roads I think you should get reservoirs just for cooling and longevity. The slight increase and travel never hurts either

Aren’t the 5100 the lowest end set?

I’ve really liked my 5160/6112 set but haven’t ever tried kings or fox’s to compare to

5125 to be exact, That was on f250 rear, it’s the middle’ish. I then went to fox 2.0 and now carli tuned king pintops

I think I had 5160’s on wife’s suburban when I deleted, will have to go look for receipt. It has fox 2.0 now
