I don’t even know what mine is, but I have the flip up side windows near the front for access and there’s no way I’d get another topper without them. It eliminates you having to climb from the back to the front to get something. Pair that with a decked system and it’s money. Got it for $500 off Facebook. For me it’s the ultimate mobile camper, guiding and hunting rig.

Be sure to get a bed sealer kit for your truck. Has a gasket deal for your tailgate and some foam plug things that plug some holes in your bed. Otherwise it’ll be a dusty disaster.

Well contrary to a lot of posts on this thread I bought a Snugtop in the spring of 2020. I did a bunch of research and went with Snugtop. No regrets. I was in So Cal at the time and either Leer or ARE was more of a midwest based company and I couldn't buy there product. I will advise to buy what you need and pay once cry once. They aren't cheap especially when you look at the amount of topper you have on a 5.5 ft bed like my Tundra has. I needed it to haul guns and ammo across the country when we left the left coast in June 2020. As said I have had no issues with it and would buy another in a heart beat.

I wouldnt be without a truck topper. I couldnt care less about the side windows

I built a partial deck in the bed. Enough space for coolers alongside the deck, tool storage under. When I lock my tailgate everything under the deck is secure.

Is that your bed? If so care to share how you built the frame? Such as how it’s attached along the side of the truck bed

Yeah that my bunk.
As far the assembly, I put a ledger across the front and the platform attaches to that.
A small L bracket keeps the back end in place.
I put 2x6s in the pockets of the bed that attach to the low side of the bunk. Easy peasy

It nice to be able to sit on the bunk and put your boots on. A little hunkered over, but better than laying on my back, or outside.

I used to cave in to cool factor and hated toppers/caps/camper shells, but after picking up a fiberglass on Craigslist for $400 with roof rack ill never go back. Having a platform of any type in the bed can really help your storage and sleeping arrangements. Also, in the past few yrs ive noticed much more riff/raff just hanging out in odd places and its nice to have a setup that doesnt broadcast as much what im up too and allows me to hide stuff a bit.

I love it. Always have what I need without a jumbled mess. I will say the decked by itself is okay, a topper itself is okay but them both together is absolutely the best.

That's been my feelings, going to order both next week.

I’m on my second camper shell for my first gen tundra. It’s hard to find them used for my truck. The first was a snugtop and it wasn’t to great. One thing I learned about as all the snug top replacement parts were a lot more expensive where as several of the other brands you could interchange parts like latches and window locks and stuff. I accidentally busted the back window on the snugtop and they quoted the window at $700 something and wanted another $550 for shipping. That’s something to keep in mind. There’s no dealers anywhere close to me in Alabama. I sold that camper shell and ended up finding a good condition ARE. It’s been great and I’ve had it paint matched to my truck. It does leak a little bit in a heavy rain. I’ve been camping out of it. I really like having a shell, cap, topper on the truck. I built a small bed frame that I can slide in and out to sleep on. I just picked up an Exped mega mat 10 sleeping pad and it has been great. I’ve got six nights on it so far and I am impressed.

I added aftermarket rain gutter brackets. It takes a little nerve drilling through brand new jell coat. I've got two Yakima racks on the shell and one on the cab to carry bikes and boats. The Yakima's are on their 5th or 6th vehicle. Parents were using them before I was driving.

The past couple years Ive had issues with replacement gas lift supports for the topper door.

They just wont last more than 6-8 months

I have a buddy that has a Leer with the "Leer box" and there's no way I'll buy a canopy without that option
