Truck Camper Shells

I bought an all aluminum ARE work style shell off marketplace and am glad I did. I looked into buying one with a broken window and tried to price replacements and the glass is more than the price of the shell used. The work style is much more durable and better for my uses.

If you only put it on when you need it, second hand aluminum is a good option.

I got this from Craig’s List. All in $300. It’s easy to install/remove because it is not heavy.

I had a Leer 100XR on my last truck and really liked it. It had the side "Windoors" and I don't think I would own another one without that option, they're super handy. I just traded that truck in a few weeks ago and sold the topper on FB Marketplace separately for $1800. I'd like to get another one for my new rig, but not sure I want to pay $4300 for it. Heavily leaning toward the Flated topper instead when the time comes.

Just got a new ARE on my tacoma.
It’s fine but not the best built.I think it compares to leer.
Don’t get me wrong it’s nice but could have a little better quality for 4000.00
But it wasn’t a option as I like a color matched topper.

Mine goes on right before duck season and comes off right after. Stores upright in the garage and takes up very little room.

Cost wise find a used one that fits your truck and get bed liner on it. Durable and matches any color truck, especially if you have black accents. At the opposite spending end, I like what I have, but if all the hybrid, low profile pop up toppers available now were available then, I’d spend a couple/few grand more and get one of those.
