I need to replace the battery in my 2016 F-150. Do you think I need an AGM battery or would just a regular battery be fine?

Read this and look into their X2 Power battery. I have one in my T4R and they are top notch batteries, but pricey and worth it IMO.

Good luck,

Eddie

P.S. They are rebranded Northstar batteries and are designed to be deep cycle and CCA to address the problem roadrunner mentioned with some AGM batteries. No affiliation with B+B.

(Most) AGM's are a deep cycle battery used in marine electronics and RV applications. They don't necessarily have the deep cranking for starting capabilities unless specified that is it's use.

A regular starting battery swapped out every two to three years is all you need and then use the additional $50 you save to buy a stitch in a new pair of Sitka pants.

If you park your truck outside in the cold, I'd look at a paste cell battery.

AGMs all failed for me, and I tried several of the best brands. My rich buddy told me about all his woes with these batteries as well. Switched back to regular batteries a couple of years ago and am happy I did.

Optima yellow tops are what I always buy for my trucks. Zero issues even down to -60° and colder. Going on my current one for 3 years I think. They never leave me stranded in the middle of no where Alaska on long hunts even in the winter time.

That's because it's a dual purpose battery. A straight deep cycle AGM wouldn't do that.
