So I was browsing there website lookin at there new products and the Ulmer's are no longer on the site. Does anyone know if they're going to stop making them? Seen a new broadhead that looks nice but I would hate if they discontinued the edge.

Dan Evans said they are not making it any more.
Rusty might have found another manufacture but I figured it would have made the news by now.

I really hope someone picks them up. Started shooting them this year and was impressed with the wound channel. They quickly became my new favorite

As stated, Trophy Taker has dropped the ulmer edge. There is currently a copyright dispute going on with the heads design.

Nobody is currently producing the head.

I shot my bull last year with one and performed awsome! I head they were going to discontinue them a while ago, so bought a couple extra packs. I'm bummed!!

Pretty sure it was announced a few months ago. I immediately started looking for 100 gr deep 6'ers and could hardly find any(should have bought the few packs I did find). Now not even ebay has any. Hopefully at least one of the local shops still has a couple packs.

Actually the patent dispute was with EP Hunting and their Reign head not Rage.
It's not even 9:00 and I'm already wrong once today.

I think I'm going back to bed.

Thanks though for getting the right info out there..

It is interesting they didn't work something out from a licensing perspective.

I was pretty disappointed as well to hear this news. I used the Ulmer last year for the first time on my elk and it worked awesome. Much better than I even imagined. I bought up the only two packs of 100gr D6 I could find. I hope something gets worked out. Would be a real shame if this design went away.

I don't know where the information in this thread is coming from but here is what I know. I was in the bow shop a few months ago and the shop owner told me they wouldn't be available this year. After a little discussion he then called Dan himself and asked a few more questions. The answer he was given straight from Dan is the patent rights belonged to Swhacker Broadheads, originally Trophy Taker paid the right of so much per head sold but there was something like a 1 Million head minimum and of course that wasn't met so a business decision was made and Trophy Taker chose not to continue making them. Now in my mind I cannot think of what Swhacker could possibly have the rights to on that head but it was something.

I think your shop owner may have misunderstood. Dan has posted in multiple places that the issue is with EP Hunting a company that isn't even in the archery business anymore. Schwacker has never been mentioned.

I agree Reign makes more sense. I had some reign heads for awhile. I was also standing there and heard exactly what was said. Maybe Swhacker owned reign?

The issue is with EP hunting.

Take a look at the bass pro Gator broadhead (formerly Rocky Mtn Gator). They look very similar in design to a ulmer. Not sure on how they preform. But might be a good replacement.
