After wolf hunting (unsuccessful…no wolves sighted the last two years) from a blind and using a Bog pod Deathgrip rifle clamp I came away impressed. This year was the carbon fiber Sherpa model which was reasonably light and pretty solid.
Already owning a nice AZIAK Front Country tripod, I just purchased a “Huntpal” gunclamp off the internet. Has a machined ARCA Swiss dovetail (fits the Aziak tripod fine). It is drilled and tapped for 1/4”’and 3/8” tripod attachment as well. It is a bit heavy at slightly over a pound made of steel and aluminum.
The Huntpal is decently machined, rubber padded in the jaws and actually open up wide enough to hold my iPhone + if wanted to take photos with the timer off the tripod. The clamp even seems better built than the Bogpod clamp.
In limited testing I was shooting 3/4 MOA using it while seated on a cheap collapsing chair at 200 meters. Point of impact wasn’t adversely affected with the relatively heavy 22-6mmAI. Plenty good for blind wolf hunting.
Someday I might add a ARCA Swiss rail to a predator rifle but meanwhile the clamp is a good option and can be used with any of my rifles.
