Tripod Legs and Column

I have been talking to some other people and I am now wondering what everyone is thinking. How many leg sections do you like? Do you use the center column or do you just get rid of it?

WB, I have an aluminum K&K tripod with 2 leg sections and a center column.

I have not been able to find one since. I don't believe Schnees sells them any more.

Closest might be the Outdoorsman Design.
