Any recommendations for tripod heads? Looking into the newer Tricer LP at only 4.5 ounces. I know the Sirui VA5 is pretty popular but is significantly heavier than some of the micro pan heads available.

RRS is the best you can get. I prefer the anvil setup, however, they also have a more traditional ballhead that is excellent as well.

A slightly more affordable option is the Two Vets 55mm head - it isn't quite the RRS but it is excellent for the price

A recent tipsy Tuesday Rokslide podcast about tripods alerted me to the fact that if you ever want to shoot off of your tripod you should get a ball head. Pan heads cannot rotate to level easily and can influence bullet flight.

Swapped out the VA-5 for the Tricer LP. It’s incredibly light and seems to work great so far. I’ve used it with some Vortex Viper 10x50s and the Swaro ATC and it’s been great so far. I also mounted my rifle to it with the Arca and it held fine. Idk if anyone else has shot off of it yet but I’m going to test it out soon.

After watching a Huntin’ fool review, I bought a small rig and have been pretty surprised by it. At $50 it’s well worth its price at this point.

I've been using the Outdoorsmans Pan head & med tripod for years. Just ordered up the Tricer BC tripod & their LP pan head. This is going to allow me to cut some nice weight in my pack. I've been watching the reviews online on the Tricer, and seems legit. I guess I will find out for sure next week🤞

If shooting with some glassing anvil 30 no other option will deliver unless you get a leveling base. Anvil is strong enough to exploit weakness in your tripod. If standing there will be vibration unless you go stout. I don't lock down my anvil when shooting I just use enough tension to freely move rifle. If your system is robust enough you will reduce a significant amount of moa. Honestly you have to practice tripod a lot until you understand it unlike using a bipod/prone with bad form. Tripod is very tempermental to form. Sorry I went on a lecture
