Is a Davros head as good as some sort of Arca mount?

In short, no. The Spartan system's benefit is the quick on/off.

ARCA will be more stable, easier to "lock in", generally balances the rifle better (most ARCA isn't placed at the forend of the rifle, where most Spartan adapters are at the forend), and depending on your ARCA rail/length, waaaaay more versatile when shooting at up/down angles

I just put a davros pro head on my tripod. You will want to install a gunsmith adapter in front of the mag well of your rifle to make it a worthwhile setup. If getting setup quickly or switching from glassing to shooting quickly is a priority, then the Spartan is better. From a precision standpoint an arca setup is better.
