Trespassing = $$$ paid to the landowner?

Wow, Color me shocked(Not really)

Sounds like these guys were knowingly trespassing, which I don’t condone. They deserved their consequences. I don’t agree with the “civil compensation” that was likely pushed by prosecution and/or the landowner.

I wouldn’t knowingly trespass, but were I to ever find myself in the unfortunate position of a trespassing charge for unknowingly doing so the warden can do what he’s gotta do. My fine certainly won’t be payable to the landowner if I can help it.

No mention of property damage or lost livestock in the article.
Damage can be a matter of opinion though.

Some people laugh of a dent in a pickup.
Others it’s a big deal.

So foot prints may be damage to someone.

Also if they are loosing revenue because of the time associated with getting them trespassed. That’s damage imo.

If they lost a day of ranching/work etc to deal with some idiots that knew they were in the wrong. Well

Interesting perspective.

I dont know that I feel too negatively about it. The landowner is the primary one damaged by trespassers so I get it but also law enforcements time to enforce such laws are a drain on that resource as well.
I agree - I wouldn't mind seeing a hefty fine split between landowners and law enforcement/state. The guys knowingly did this and whether property was damaged or not, I have no problem with the landowner being compensated for lost time just to deal with the BS associated with it all. To all of you who think this is wrong, what is a day of your time worth? Especially during hunting season...

Obvious you don’t think someone trespassing across you’re property as damage?

What if they went in your house?
What if they jumped in you sxs and used it to pack the elk out?

Its the owners private property.
My property is the biggest investment I’ll ever make in life, I’ll work my entire life in an attempt to pay for it. I sure a shit don’t expect a single sole to ever set foot on it without my permission.

According to this article, that didn’t occur. If it did occur, then this article is a misleading piece of garbage.

If that were true in this case, I’d certainly think there would have been other charges/penalties than those listed.
Not every article tells everything.

Damages can be a matter of opinion though.

The same way being offended is.
You can call me about anything and I’ll shrug it off.

But I can’t expect everyone to let it slide.

Yep, and strangers have no idea what aspects/use case of that property you value so even if it seems like they aren't "damaging" anything, they might be and at a minimum they are causing a headache for you to deal with. Nobody wants to deal with armed trespassers on their land.
