Also useful for crossing swollen creeks.
I just ran across this situation last weekend. It was sweet to have the poles while walking across a fallen tree over the creek.

I don’t know what kinds of deals are being offered around the country with the rest of the Costco‘s, but it looks like they’re practically giving them away up here. Pretty hard not to invest in a pair of these to try them out.

Just was wondering if that was the aluminum next to the carbon poles. I fell on my aluminum poles, they bent and I bent them back and was still able to use them. Not sure if carbon would have stood up, but I wasn't able make them contract very easily until I got back home and worked with a wood vise to make them almost like new once again. But as a side note, I bought another pair to keep at the truck in case I broke a set or bent them to an un-useable state or condition. So important on the pack out scenario.
