Trekking Pole Tripod

I want to turn my trekking poles into a tripod for mounting my binos. There are a lot of posts about the Wiser Quick Stix and adaptor, but I can't find anyone who has done this in a more DIY way. The Quick Stix look like a good buy but I'm not sold on $125 for their clip on adaptor. I have a carbon pole I'd use as the third leg and just need to figure out a way to join it to the two poles and mount the binos. Anyone done this?

I know its not quite what youre asking for but Alpyn has tripods that you can disconnect two of the legs and turn them into trekking poles. If the goal is a quick cheap option to turn your existing gear into a tripod this isnt it but if the goal is to slim down gear and combine the two tools into one this is a good option. Theres also an attachment that would allow you to combine the two legs into a carbon pole for your tent if needed.

That's a cool idea. It's definitely coming at the same issue, just from the opposite direction since I have poles already. Could be a good fit for someone who wants a more high-end tripod setup.

It’s not a tripod, but get the wiser precision sparrow for $40. It sits on the single trekking pole. Give you time to make something or fork over the cash for the rest of the quick stix setup.

This isn't a terrible option. I'd question how stable it is. And adjusting the angle would be rough.

I've gone done this rabbit hole and ultimately decided it wasn't worth it. If you got that piece above and an extra trekking pole, you are looking at about 11-12oz. Plus a head like the Aziak ball head, you are at 16-17oz. Aziak's Ridgeline tripod is only 20oz and then you don't lose your trekking poles so you can use them for a tarp or shelter if needed.

Thanks, this looks like a great solution. That tripod looks nice but is more than I'm willing to spend right now, so this might be it.

I’ve got a Wiser setup as well with the QuickStix, QuickClip, and third leg. It’s usable…. But it’s just a pain in the butt.

Wanted to report back on this. I ended up picking up the tripod adapter that @gtriple posted. I paired it with a ball head and bino adaptor and it's a pretty slick setup. Put it through the paces on a scouting trip this weekend and was very happy with it. All-in the tripod adaptor, ball head, bino adaptor, and carbon pole come to 9.5 oz. The whole setup cost around $85, not including the pole which I had leftover from a tent but could be improvised from many sources. Pretty good for adding a tripod mount to my system.
