has anyone ever put pelican case on top of a bed cover when the truck bed is too short for the case,

Um, like asking if its waterproof?

I have a pelican case I carry a fair amount of value in, that is pretty much never in anything. Back of of uncovered truck bed.

Biggest concern is theft, they won't be able to use it, but it's 5 figures to replace.

Nope, but I’ve carried mine on top of my roof.

I added bolts to the interior latches for securing with a ratchet strap.

Downgrading from a 3500 8ft bed
Looking at 1500 6.5 bed or a ranger raptor 5ft bed

I travel about five or six times a year where I would need a trailer with the Ranger raptor and I might be able to fit everything in the 1500
