Transfer case failure

I have a 2022 GMC HD. A few months ago I heard a clicking sound from under the truck. It only lasted one trip but I took it in and told them to keep it for a week and see if they could figure it out. They never reproduced the sound, About a month later it did it again so I took it to a different dealer and they again couldn't replicate it. A month later, last week, it did it again but it did it multiple days in a row so I took it back and they said they reproduced it and its the transfer case. They drained the fluid and said a significant amount of metal came out. I'm under 30k miles. Is this just bad luck? Are there scenarios that would cause this failure?

I found the problem! 😂😂😂 j/k

On a serious note I would guess either it did not have the correct amount of fluid from the factory or it was a faulty piece or setting within the transfer case when it was built. Outside of those things I’m not positive of any situations where that could happen by a user induced error.
