So I am currently in the process of building a zermatt origin on a manners stock and will be utilizing a WTO switch lug. I plan on having several different calibers with the short action…308, 6 creed, and maybe one of the 6.5 s (PRC or Creed).

For a trainer barrel would I be better off to go with a 223 or a 22 ARC. I know 223 will be way cheaper just to get reps in and save some money, but I like the thought of shooting the 88 eldm.
Will prob be a 20” bbl to stay on weight with my others.

Any input is appreciated

223 bolt gun is a pretty fun trainer. Loads can be found to mimic the path of the larger calibers except for wind.

If you are practicing just the fundamentals, go 223. If you are practice judging distance, wind, holdover etc. don’t by a training rig, put that money into ammo for your main rig and practice with that. If the extra hardware is just for fun 22ARC would be fun to see how good it is.

I've shot 80s with my 223ai, no reason you couldn't shoot 88's.

24grs powder and nearly free brass and a few extra in the mag is a great sales pitch.
