Well he doesn't have much for antlers but I tagged this guy using an osage bow and a stone tipped arrow. I made the bow from an osage tree I cut about 250 yards from where I shot him. The wound you see is the exit - and, perhaps fittingly, I was unable to find my stone point. Hopefully some archer 200 years from now will find it!

Brother, that’s about as cool as it gets right there.

I had 5 coyotes trot near me last night and I was able to get one to come back with a kiss/squeak call. Used, what for me is my ultra-high tech set-up: 25 year old Bob Lee recurve with some carbon arrows and Zwickey Deltas.

First trad harvest and first deer down here in Oklahoma. 50# Samick Sage, 3 Rivers Trad only arrows, and Zwickey Eskilites. Orded the Sage on amazon in late August and struggled just enough learning how to shoot this damn thing to get it done!

First trad deer 2019 with Big Jim’s Desert Brighorn 60” bow 63# at my 31-1/2” draw length. Shot with dark timber full length 340 spine arrow with 50 grain insert and 200 grain grizzly 3 blade broad head the doe went 40 yards and died within seconds of being shot.

2020 trad harvest. Doe shot with a black widow PSAX 62” 53# @31-1/2” shooting full length black eagle renegade 250 spine with the 58 grain 1/2 out and 200 grain VPA three blade and iron will S200’s. First shot was a bad shot I spine shot it just up from the rear hip the deer and it dropped in its tracks. I got another arrow in it from the tree but had to shoot it again from the ground at a better angle.

I only ask because the first doe I killed was taken in the same manor...” what the hell? You frickin idiot... you should let down, etc....wait, there’s a blood trail.”

That was 5 years ago for me.. I realized real quick that you must shoot almost everyday to keep your shit together when it counts.

I had a bad shot from a seated position in the tree stand and the deer was alert. I thought I had the shot lined up well. I’m not sure if it dropped and lunged or it was a bad shot all together, I’ll take being lucky here for sure. I have noticed I either miss the deer completely or I get good shot on them, I can flat out shoot some foam from 0-40 yards, when hunting my mental process seams to float away with the wind. Every time I have a deer walk in I now tell myself “don’t rush you have time, get the shot lined up and get off the string clean.

I have never spine shot a deer prior to this one.
