I've studied Art Young a lot and he shot 75lb + ...... his story's are good reads !!!! True legend in my books !!!
If memory serves me right he was using a Pacific Yew 80#bow on that Alaska hunt ? He was taught by Will Compton and then introduced to Dr. Saxton Pope / Ishi .
It is only in the last few years that I took a interest in digging back into his life story when a good friend of mine suggested that I should !!
OK I was wrong ..... It was a Osage bow that Art carried , he switched from yew to Osage in 1920 . Not that it matters much lol
He was a very talented man , a violinist, a swimmer and a writer . He was actually training for the Olympics at one point but had to remove himself from training.
I think he won the western swimming championship twice and was never beat .
