Don’t have any direct experience with that scope but from what I know about Swarovski (I have a pair of ELs), their clarity and quality is fantastic compared to lower cost options. You really do “get what you pay for” with Swarovski. All this is just my opinion though! Don’t ever put yourself into financial difficulty for some optics.

I could see keeping one if you had a “heavy wear” use such as leaving in your truck, loaning to a kid, etc. But short of that, what use would you have for keeping BOTH vortex scopes if replacing with a swaro? Will he actually use them if he’s got a swaro to bring? Get rid of at least one, if not both.

Maybe I misunderstood the question. Is he unhappy with them? Both work fine for seeing bullet holes in paper at 400 yards. But probably not counting annular rings.

Neither…get a Swaro ATC 17-40x56…I just bought one to replace my old Swaro.

I just sold my 14 year old Swaro ATM 20-60x65HD (magnesium) spotting scope. It was not better optically than the compact ATC that is is around 70% of the size and weight. Tested by my eye side by side both in broad daylight and at dusk into full darkness. Both on good tripods looking at the mountain with trees, rock formations, etc. And the company had a much better field of view.

I gave up the 41X up to 60X power range with the compact but will augment with digiscoping. I typically never discoped at the high end of powers on the old Swaro anyway.

The lower 17x is actually quite noticeable with giant field of view and useful vs the 20X bottom end on the old scope.

My other spotting scope is a Nikon 13-30x50mm HD. I’ll possibly sell it or keep it in the armrest of the truck full time. Decent but not a Swaro but is also very light.

Do what he can afford. I personally have been in situations where I wished I still had a Swaro. I have NEVER been in a position where I wished I had ANY Razor. That's after using all flavors of the Razor, and the 65MM ATS HD in real world hunting situations. Just my .02
