Trade in for a Tundra…

Not sure what I’m looking for in response - maybe encouraging advice? I have a ‘21 F250 6.2 gas with ~85,000 miles. Been a great truck so far (no problems). I do not need this size of a truck anymore, but I do like it. I previously had a ‘18 Tundra. I am thinking about going back to a ‘20-21 Tundra because of the known longevity and peace of mind that comes with it. However, the lack of payload and short bed length of the Tundra (even though I will rarely have the need to surpass it) have me a bit hesitant. Also the idea of trading a truck in for roughly the same # of miles is a little counterintuitive to me. I intend to keep the Tundra until she dies if I go that route. I know all vehicles will need repairs but get nervous of having to do expensive repairs as I get to 100,000 miles on a Ford (or any of the big 3). First world problems!

I have an 1989 Tindra that just went over 100k miles. I bought it used a few years ago with only 32k miles. There is no doubt in my mind it will run to over 200k without throwing $ to the wind with repair bills.

I’m sold on Toyotas and will continue buying them. I get around 16 to 18 mpg and am waiting for a used Toy with possibly a hybrid motor that is affordable for my next truck purchase.

My Tundra has a 6’ bed and an extended cab. There is plenty of room behind the seat. Similar to you I use a full 6’ bed. My guess is Toyota still makes these?

A couple of years ago I traded in my Ram 2500 Cummins on a Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition that was a year older but with almost the exactly same mileage. I loved that diesel but I no longer needed it (not commuting as far or towing as much) and was tired of the expensive exhaust system repairs. I miss the power of that pickup, especially when towing, but I love my Tundra. The dependability/longevity were definitely worth the trade for me and my situation.

Edit: my Tundra is the CrewMax so it has a very spacious back seat and a 5 1/2’ bed. There have been a few times I wished for a little longer bed, but honestly the added cab space has come in more handy for me.

I have a 2010 tundra (2nd gen). Bought it with 118,000 on it without hesitation. Best truck I’ve ever owned. I wouldn’t hesitate swapping one for the other mileage wise, I’d guess you would get more miles out of the tundra vs the ford.

Last year my 07 “Classic” LBZ Duramax hit 300k miles. Trouble free since new and I plan to keep it forever. I maintain it myself and take good care of it.
While I was on muley hunt last Oct I drove someone’s 08 Tundra with the same amount of miles and was shocked at how solid, quiet, and well it handled. It felt like a brand new truck compared to my 3/4 ton with equal miles and age.
With a new baby on the way and a need for a bigger back seat I went hunting for a crewmax Tundra and found a 21 with only 6k miles on it. In my head it’s brand new and should serve me for many years. It’s a pleasure to drive, especially on rough roads. Love it.

I love Toyotas typically but my 2 F150s have been awesome. I'm driving a 22 f150 powerboost now and average 22mpg and tow a 21' camper like nothing. 400+ HP and a built in generator to boot. Maybe not quite as durable but very little issues across the board.

The 6.2 Aluminduties are pretty freaking bulletproof man. The best gen HD truck ever IMO. You'd be trading off a ton of capabilities for a more cushy ride is all.

Get a beater daily driver if you're worried about not making it to 300k miles. No way I'd give up an HD truck for a IFS truck with less payload than a Ford Ranger.

Have a 2013 Rock Warrior Tundra with 248000, just basic maintenance zero issues. Also have a 2018 TRD Off Road Tundra Crewmax with 115000. Also zero issues, just maintenance.

I’m a big fan of Toyota and just sold my 2005 Tundra yesterday but my newer truck is a Ford with the 6.2 and it should go 300k easy. You have a Ford that is probably just as reliable as the Tundra. All you really gain with the Tundra is a smoother ride.

6.2 fords are pretty darn solid rigs. I'd hang on to it, if it were me. For sure wouldnt be trading it in on a 1/2 ton pickup

All 2007 3/4 tons rode/ride like shit and drove/cornered stiff. You're comparing apples to stones.

I dont think youre going to go wrong with the 5.7 Tundra. I miss mine. I couldnt justify it based on price compared to a much newer one and rolled the dice but have a stout warranty on it.

Not sure if it was an option on that gen but I have a 23 long bed crewmax. I got left stranded by my silverado and when I saw my current tundra on the lot with the long bed I knew I had to have it. Can't say ive seen one of the gen 2.5s like that but take a look.
